Hopi White-Slipped Open Bowl by Nampeyo, c.1910

This white-slipped polychrome bowl dates to 1910 and is an excellent example of the work of Hopi-Tewa master potter Nampeyo (1856-1942). The central abstract bird design on the interior of the bowl, and glyphs on the exterior of the bowl, are exemplary of Nampeyo's work from this mature period of her career. The piece fired exceptionally well, with the bold black and red design popping out from the white background. The bowl measures 2 1/4" height and 8" diameter, and is in excellent, original condition with no repair.
