Hopi Long Hair Kachina, c.1950 new

The Long-Haired Kachina is a revered figure associated with gentle rains and springtime renewal. This kachina appears in ceremonies across many pueblos. His long, flowing hair symbolizes falling rain, while the eagle breast plumes above his head represent clouds. A favorite of the Hopi, his melodic songs and graceful dance bring blessings of fertility and abundance. This kachina doll features excellent detail in the miniature regalia, including a miniature fox pelt, dance sash and traditional kilt. He carries a ceremonial rattle and a sprig of Douglas Fir. This piece stands 10" high and was carved in the 1950s. A wonderful addition to any collection of Hopi Kachina dolls.
