Prehistoric Revival Frog Effigy by Laguna Potter Michael Kanteena new
This pottery frog effigy by master Laguna potter Michael Kanteena (1959- ) is exemplary of the style of pottery-making he is best known for: prehistoric revival pottery made using traditional molding, painting, and firing techniques. The frog has a Mimbres-style image of a frog with dragonflies on its back, surrounded by a checkerboard design that also emulates ancient designs. Tadpoles encircle the checkerboard design. The front of the frog has abstract designs that also draw inspiration from the prehistoric world and suggest feathers and kiva steps. The frog measures 4" height, 4 1/2" depth, and 6 1/4" length, and is in original condition.
