This Hopi kachina doll is traditionally-carved from cottonwood root, and dates to about 1940. The doll depicts Nuvak-China, the snow kachina. He is thought to live on top of the San Francisco Peaks, and brings cold and snow to the Hopi, and he appears in many of the winter dances. The doll measures 11" height and is in good condition. He sits on a stand, which has an old Fred Harvey "From the Hopi Villages" sticker on the bottom.
