Two Hopi Polychrome Seed Jars with Eagle Tail Design by Vernida Polacca Nampeyo

Hopi master potter Vernida Polacca Nampeyo (1955- ) made these two polychrome seed jars in March 2022. Vernida is the great-granddaughter of Nampeyo and the granddaughter of Fannie, Nampeyo's most prolific and skilled potting daughter. Fannie taught Vernida pottery-making from a young age, and for decades, Vernida made traditional Hopi pottery the way Fannie taught her. Vernida is well-known for precisely executing family designs, particularly the migration design and the eagle tail design seen on these two jars. These two fine examples of her work show fine, symmetrical molding and precise painting. The jar on the left measures 5 1/2" height and 7" diameter, and the jar on the right measures 3 3/4" height and 5" diameter. Complimentary shipping is included.
