Hopi Handled Jar with Beetle Lady by Vernida Polacca Nampeyo
Hopi master potter Vernida Polacca Nampeyo (1955- ) made this yellowware handled jar in 2004. Vernida is the great-granddaughter of Nampeyo and the granddaughter of Fannie, Nampeyo's most prolific and skilled potting daughter. Fannie taught Vernida how to make pottery, and Vernida has been making traditional pottery with well-executed Nampeyo family designs for decades. This jar features a popular Nampeyo family design, the beetle lady. The jar measures 6 1/2" height and 8 1/2" diameter, and is in excellent condition, with the handles professionally reattached from the firing. Complimentary shipping included.
