Hopi Honan “Badger” Kachina Doll, c.1960s

This traditionally-carved cottonwood root Hopi kachina doll dates to the 1960s, and depicts Honan, the badger kachina. Honan is known as a curing kachina, and appears frequently at the dances. This depiction of Honan is ethnographically accurate and is nicely detailed and adorned with miniature shells. The doll measures 12” height including his feathers, and is in excellent condition. He stands on his own, or is perfect for displaying on a wall.
