Acoma Polychrome Turtle, c.1940 new

This Acoma polychrome turtle from 1940 is unsigned, however “Acoma, N.M.” is clearly written in guaco on the bottom. The turtle’s “shell” is decorated with a classic fine line design suggesting floral themes. The design is very symmetrical and fits the turtle well. The turtle measures 7” from head to tail, 2 ¾” height, and 5 ½ width, and is in original condition. Animal effigies like this one were popular along Route 66 during this period. Complimentary shipping included.
