Hopi Open Bowl by Grace Chapella

This is a Hopi open bowl by Hopi-Tewa potter Grace Chapella (1874-1980). Grace Chapella was Nampeyo's neighbor at First Mesa, and credited Nampeyo as her pottery teacher. As Gregory Schaaf notes in "Hopi-Tewa Pottery," Grace was one of the first potters at Hopi to begin signing her work. Grace is known for her geometric designs, such as the elaborate one on the inside of this bowl. The bowl measures 1 7/8" height and 9 3/4" diameter, and is in excellent condition. Complimentary shipping included.
