Hopi Yellowware Open Bowl by Nampeyo, c.1910-1915
This is a yellowware open bowl by Hopi master potter, matriarch, and American modernist Nampeyo (1856-1942). The bowl shows Nampeyo using the more traditional Hopi design of a kachina face—Palhik Mana, the butterfly maiden. The drawing on this bowl matches the drawing on her tiles and other ceramics. The Palhik Mana was her most popular kachina design. The bowl is in excellent original condition and measures 3" height and 10 1/4" diameter.
