This is a Hopi seed jar by master potter Rachel Sahmie (1956- ), the great-great-granddaughter of the matriarch of Hopi pottery, Nampeyo (1856-1942). Rachel continues to gain recognition as the best Hopi potter of her generation. This bowl features a Sikyatki Revival bird design, used by Nampeyo and her family for more than century. The bowl measures 2 3/4" height and 8 1/4" diameter, and is in excellent original condition. Rachel fired it in December 2020, and it is signed "Nampeyo Koo Loo."
