Hopi Open Bowl with Kachina by Rachel Sahmie
This is a small open bowl with a kachina face by Rachel Sahmie that was fired in October 2020. The design of the kachina face is a traditional Hopi design, and the bowl was molded, fired, and painted using traditional methods. The bowl fired with a great variation of color in the clay. The bowl measures 1 5/8" height and 4 3/4" diameter. Rachel Sahmie is a fifth generation master potter at First Mesa, and is the great-great-granddaughter of Nampeyo (1856-1942), the matriarch of Hopi pottery.
