Hopi Storage Jar by Rachel Sahmie

This storage jar features incredible arbrush in the firing all the way from ivory to deep orange. It has a red square mouth, and classic Sikyatki birds hanging from clouds. The jar measures 11 ¼” height and 8” diameter, and was just fired a couple of weeks ago. It is a superb example of an 100% traditional large jar. These large jars require expert workmanship and their number is limited. Rachel Sahmie is a fifth generation master potter at First Mesa, and is the great-great-granddaughter of Nampeyo, the matriarch of modern Hopi pottery.
