Hopi Hahai-i Wuhti "Grandmother" Kachina Doll, c.1930

This is an old Hahai-i Wuhti kachina doll from about the 1930s. Hahai-i Wuhti, along with Crow Mother, is considered to be the mother of all kachinas—she is often portrayed as a "sprightly grandmother" and appears in many of the dances at Hopi. This doll was carved from a single piece of cottonwood root, and has a classic form and features, with an old cord for hanging. The doll measures 7 1/2" height, and is in good original condition, except for a chip on her foot (pictured).
