Polacca Kachina Canteen (c. 1890) by Nampeyo updated

This early canteen features double kachinas, each hanging in a square maze with geometric ancient designs all around. The Polacca slip dates the piece to the early Sikyatki Revival period, around 1890. The kachinas also appear on Nampeyo?s tiles in a similar design. The base is rag wiped in red clay as were many of Nampeyo's early ceramics.
The piece is in original condition without repair or restoration. It measures 8.5" in height and 8" in diameter.

Provenance: an Albuquerque estate.
