Early Navajo Chief's Rug, c.1910s

This excellent textile features design elements from both 2nd and 3rd phase Chief’s Blankets. It appears to be an early Red Mesa textile with white outlining around the Saltillo diamonds. It dates to around 1910 or 1920. The blanket is freshly-washed, and measures 51” height and 75” width (over 4’ by 6’). The wool is homespun, the blue appears to be indigo. The textile is in excellent condition.

R297 -- $4950
