Black on Red Bowl by Nampeyo, c.1905
This red slipped bowl by Nampeyo dates to around 1905, after she had added the red slip to her techniques. The small bowl features her distinctive extra last coil of clay on the rim.
and measures 5 3/4" diameter by 2" high. The design is a variation of one of her distinctive birds with a high tail flying back up over its head. She has used this drawing on at least 7 or 8 other ceramics from this same period, the first decade of 1900.
