Polacca Kachina Tile by Nampeyo, c. 1885
This is an excellent example of Nampeyo's early drawing on the tiles. This is her familiar Shalako Mana figure done around 1885. Features a red slipped edge. Measures 3 1/2" square. Excellent condition. Similar examples of Nampeyo's tiles with this design are included in the Peabody Museum at Harvard. Includes letter of authenticity from Steve Elmore. Classic example of Nampeyo's Shalako Mana. Note how she shortened one side to fit the tile. She's young and learning.
