Bracelets

Worn by both men and women bracelets have long been a preferred form of jewelry. The earliest pieces were made from copper. From the mid 1850’s on, Mexican silversmiths influenced Navajo craftsmen by introducing, file work, rudimentary stamps and cold chisel techniques. Simple turquoise stone settings surrounded by elaborate silver work has become the identifiable style of Navajo silversmiths. Zuni artist on the other hand prefer the mosaic inlay style and create elaborate geometric and figural designs in a large array of materials, including jet, turquoise, spiny oyster shell, mother of pearl, coral to name a few.
