Hopi Butterfly Maiden Doll, c.1960 new

This beautifully carved figure represents Palhikmana, the Butterfly Maiden. Palhikmana is depicted with a white face featuring triangular striped designs and radiating lines from the chin. She wears an elaborate tableta and a white embroidered ceremonial robe. Attributed to the artist Emory Pohuma, this piece was carved in the 1960s. It stands 14" high and is in excellent condition. A fine piece of traditional artwork.
