Hopi Deep Bowl by Nyla Sahmie

This deep pottery bowl is the work Hopi-Tewa master potter Nyla Sahmie. Nyla comes from a long line of traditional potters—she is the great-great-granddaughter of Nampeyo (1856-1942), the great-granddaughter of Annie Healing Nampeyo, the granddaughter of Rachel Namingha Nampeyo, and the daughter of Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo. With its black geometric designs on a yellow background, this bowl shows influence from the ancient Hopi village of Jeddito. The bowl measures 4" height and 7 1/2" diameter, and was fired April 2023.
