Wawarus Runner Kachina, c.1950 new

This traditional Hopi kachina doll depicts the Wawarus Runner, one of the Kachinas known for racing Hopi men during spring ceremonies. This figure is easily recognized by his green face, minimal black eyes and mouth, and distinct ceremonial attire. The doll is traditionally carved from cottonwood root with fine attention to detail in the miniature regalia. This piece was carved in the 1950s and stands 8 1/2" high. A dynamic addition to any collection of Hopi kachina dolls.
