Two Hopi Butterfly Pins, c.1940 new
These old silver butterfly pins are the work of the same Hopi silversmith around 1940 or before, predating the introduction of silver overlay. These pieces are highly creative, using a hollow silver tube as the body, intricate stampwork as decoration on the wings and hand-pulled wire antennae. The details of the designs are highly original but show similar elements and stamps. These pins are approximately the same size, measuring 2 1/2" wide by 2 3/4" long. Both pieces have excellent patina. Excellent condition. Available individually or as a set.
