Hopi Seed Jar by Nampeyo, c.1900 new
This seed jar is an excellent example of the work of the Hopi-Tewa master potter Nampeyo (1858-1942). Both the form and design of this piece are strong examples of Nampeyo's handiwork. This wide seed jar form was revived and perfected by Nampeyo over many years. This piece is decorated by highly original Sikyatki-inspired designs which indicate Nampeyo's mature period. It measures 5 1/2" in diameter by 3 1/2" high. It is in excellent original condition. An excellent piece by a Native American Modernist at an affordable price.
