Hopi White Slipped Seed Jar by Nampeyo, c.1900 new
This white slipped jar is an excellent example of the work of Hopi-Tewa master potter Nampeyo (1858-1942). This wide seed jar form is an ancient tradition revived by Nampeyo from prehistoric examples. It is decorated with elegant geometric designs repeated on the exterior, including dotting around the rim representing rain drops. This piece measures 5" in diameter by 3" high. An old inventory label on the bottom dates it to around the turn of the last century. It is in excellent original condition. An excellent piece at an affordable price.
