Contemporary Hopi Seed Jar by Vernida Polacca Nampeyo new

A nice example of traditional Hopi pottery by Vernida Polacca Nampeyo. This seed jar uses a traditional seed jar form and features a bird design. This piece was made traditionally from Hopi clay and pit fired at the artist's home in Polacca, Arizona. Vernida learned the art of pottery directly from her grandmother Fannie Nampeyo. She is a fourth-generation ceramic artist and direct descendant of the Hopi master potter Nampeyo (1858-1942). This jar measures 7 1/4" in diameter by 3 3/4" high. Clearly signed by the artist. A nice example of a living artistic tradition.
