Hopi Seed Jar by Paqua Naha
This impressive jar is signed with the distinct frog indicating it is the work of Paqua Naha, also known as the first Frog Woman. Paqua studied pottery-making directly under Nampeyo in the 1910s, when she mastered the yellowware style. This is a classic example of the creamy white slip that she and her descendants are best known for. Both the jar’s elegant, high-shouldered form and classic Sikyatki Revival designs are exemplary of Paqua’s work. This jar is finely made, with slipping inside the vessel's mouth. It measures 6" high by 12" in diameter. It is traditionally made from native Hopi clay and pit fired traditionally. Excellent original condition. A great addition to any collection of Hopi masters.
