Hopi Polychrome Moth Jar by Jeremy Adams Nampeyo
This is an expertly-molded jar by Nampeyo family potter Jeremy Adams Nampeyo. Jeremy is a young, up-and-coming sixth generation traditional Hopi potter, who learned pottery-making from his mother, Vernida Polacca Nampeyo. Vernida is the great-granddaughter of Nampeyo, and granddaughter of Fannie, Nampeyo's most masterful potting daughter, who instructed Vernida in the family tradition. Vernida and Jeremy both live at First Mesa and pit fire their pottery together.
This superb example of Jeremy's work shows him using Nampeyo's moth design, along with traditional Hopi designs of clouds with lightning. The jar measures 4 1/2" height and 7" diameter, and was fired June 2nd, 2023. Any purchase of Jeremy's pottery is an excellent opportunity to support the next generation of Nampeyo family potters.
