San Ildefonso Polychrome Jar, c.1890s
This early, stone-polished example of San Ildefonso Pueblo polychrome pottery dates to the 1890s. The jar's charming floral design reads like an abstract landscape around the jar. The more rounded shape of the jar is an ethnographic form predating the later Tunyo style jars. The jar measures 9 1/2" height and 11" diameter, and is in good condition with some minor retouching. This is would be an excellent addition to any collection of historic Pueblo pottery.
