Hopi Style Katsin Mana Canteen by Laguna Potter Michael Kanteena

This polychrome canteen is exemplary of the figural pottery of Laguna master potter Michael Kanteena (1959- ). The canteen is signed "M. Kanteena Laguna, NM." A Hopi katsin mana kachina sits atop the canteen. She has traditional Hopi maiden "butterfly" hair whorls with a feather on top of her head. The face of the canteen is decorated with a Sikyatki Revival design in keeping with Kanteena's homage to Hopi pottery. The canteen measures 5 1/2" height and 6" width, and is in original condition.
