Hopi White-Slipped Jar with Migration Design by Vernida Polacca Nampeyo
Hopi master potter Vernida Polacca Nampeyo (1955- ) made this white-slipped migration jar in April 2022. Vernida is the great-granddaughter of Nampeyo and the granddaughter of Fannie, Nampeyo's most prolific and skilled potting daughter. Fannie taught Vernida pottery-making. For decades, Vernida made traditional Hopi pottery the way Fannie taught her, and she is well-known for precisely executing family designs, particularly the migration. This fine migration example of her work decorates a well-molded jar. Vernida utilized her new whiter slip on this jar, and it fired well. The jar measures 6" height and 8" diameter, and is in excellent, original condition. Complimentary shipping is included.
