Navajo Sandcast Bracelet with Turquoise, c.1930

This superb example of 1930s Navajo jewelry shows excellent craftsmanship. The bracelet is sandcast from ingot silver and has a nice weight to it. Sandcasting involves complex carving out of volcanic stone to create a mold, and is also known as tufacasting.

The outside of the bracelet is decorated with seven natural American turquoise cabochons. The bracelet measures 5 1/2" inside, with a 1 3/8" opening, perfect for about a 6 3/4" wrist.
