Hopi Yellowware Canteen by Nampeyo, c.1910

This Hopi yellowware canteen by Nampeyo dates to 1910 and features an abstract original kachina design in her Sikyatki Revival style. This piece from her mature period combines elements from different designs she has used in the past—kachina faces, eagle tail feathers, dance sashes—in a new and original design. This canteen is a miniaturized version of a traditional Hopi canteen, and is an excellent example of Nampeyo miniaturizing large ethnographic forms for the art market. The canteen measures 5 ½” height, 5 ¼” width, and 3 ¾” depth, and is in excellent, original condition. Complimentary shipping is included.
