Large Migration Seed Jar by Priscilla Namingha

This large seed jar is signed by Hopi master potter Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo (1924-2008). Priscilla is the great-granddaughter of Nampeyo, the granddaughter of Annie Healing Nampeyo, and the daughter of Rachel Namingha Nampeyo. She is the mother of Rachel Sahmie.

This large, exceptionally symmetrical jar sits on a small, apricot-sized base. Priscilla was known for being able to mold large jars with miraculously small bases. The jar is decorated with the migration design, one of the classic designs that Nampeyo perfected and passed down through her children. The jar measures 10 1/2" height and 14" diameter, and is in excellent, original condition.
