Large Hopi PC Bowl w/ Pahlik Mana by Nampeyo c.1900
This large yellowware bowl features Pahlik Mana or the Flower Maiden of the Hopi. This is an example of a female dancer in Hopi society, whereas the dancing is mostly done by the men. This figure sports a large tableta and facial markings. This bowl has a large presence with excellent firing. The design contours nicely with the shape of the large bowl, excellent use of space, and polychrome coloration in black and red. Nice early example of Nampeyo’s traditional work. The piece comes with a detailed letter of attribution.
This piece measures 6 ½” in height by 15” in diameter and is in excellent condition.
