Small Black & White on Red Bowl by Annie Healing, c. 1905 - 1910 new
This redware bowl appears to be the work of Annie Helaing, Nampeyo’s daughter, c. 1905-10. The bowl shows opposing bird wings on the interior, creating a sense of motion. The two wings interlock at the center of the bowl in a rectangular form with two, white triangles. The design appears in a more complex layout in many of Nampeyo’s pieces. The unique design, rain drop marks on the rim, and sophisticated abstraction make this piece an excellent addition for any collector of Puebloan pottery.
