Acoma Tri-Lobe Canteen by Juana Leno
This is a three-lobed Acoma canteen by traditional master-potter Juana Lena. The form and design of this canteen were inspired by prehistoric examples. This piece was signed and dated by the artist in 1998. It is handmade of native Acoma clay and pit fired outdoors in the traditional fashion and has a hand-braided leather strap custom made for this piece.
The piece measures 4 ½ " height and 11 ¾ " diameter. This is a masterpiece-level example of traditional Pueblo pottery inspired by ancient pottery, and made by a master Acoma potter. It is in excellent condition.
