Early First Phase Concho Belt, c. 1890-1900 new

An exceptional example of early Native American silverwork, this is an early First Phase Concho belt dating from c.1890-1900. This piece features eight heavy Conchos with characteristic minimalistic stampwork and a geometric central openings. The buckle is exceptionally small, suggesting an early date. This piece is mounted on old saddle leather, possibly original to the piece. This is an impressive ensemble with a lot of heft. The Conchos average 4 1/8" by 3 1/4" and the buckle measures 1 7/8" by 2 1/4". The belt itself measures 45" long. This piece is in excellent condition. From a Florida collection. A highly recommended addition to any collection of early Southwestern silverwork.
