Hopi Canteen by Nampeyo, c.1920 new

This yellowware canteen is a great example of the work of Nampeyo (1858-1942) from around 1920. This piece features an innovative variant on a classic eagle tail swirl motif, one of several Sikyatki Revival designs that Nampeyo popularized through her work. This canteen is a great example of Nampeyo refining utilitarian forms for the art market. This piece measures 5" high by 4 1/2" wide. Excellent original condition with minor scuffing. A great addition to any collection.
