Four-Panel Seed Jar by Nampeyo, c.1910

An excellent seed jar by the Hopi matriarch Nampeyo (1858-1942), this piece features attractive, innovative designs typical of the artist's high period around 1910. The bottom includes a note in pencil "$2.25" and a "From The Hopi Villages" sticker used by the Harvey Company during this period. The geometric design is restrained and precisely rendered. This piece is traditionally made from native Hopi clay and fired outdoors. It measures 3" high by 6 1/2" in diameter. Excellent original condition. An excellent addition to any collection.
