Contemporary Hopi Eagle Tail Jar by Vernida Polacca Nampeyo
An outstanding piece of contemporary Hopi pottery by Vernida Polacca Nampeyo, this traditional jar features the classic Eagle Tail design, one of many Sikyatki Revival motifs introduced by the artist's ancestor Nampeyo (1858-1942). Vernida is a fourth-generation master potter who learned directly from Nampeyo's daughter Fannie. This piece was handmade from native Hopi clay and pit fired outdoors in May of 2024. It measures 5 1/2" high by 6" in diameter. Signed by the artist. An excellent addition to any collection of traditional pottery.
