Navajo Silver Shell Pillbox, c.1930

An excellent piece of Navajo silverwork dating from around 1920 to 1930, this scallop shell pillbox has a wonderful art deco aesthetic originally made to imitate popular shell-shaped pill boxes sold by Tiffany & Co in this era. This piece has chiseled and stamped accents framing a bright blue American turquoise stone. The hinge is handmade silver wire. Measures 1" high by 1" wide. An excellent piece of Native American history at a great price.
