Large Hopi Seed Jar by Rachel Sahmie
This huge master-piece level jar is the work of the late Hopi master potter Rachel Sahmie (1956-2022). Rachel lived on First Mesa, and is the great-great-granddaughter of Nampeyo, and the daughter of Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo (1924-2008). The jar is decorated with an abstract Sikyatki Revival eagle tail design, with well-executed stippling. This piece measures 6 1/2" height and 14 1/2" diameter, and fired well. The jar is signed on the bottom "Rachel Sahmie Koo Loo."
