Small Hopi Open Bowl with Sikyatki Revival Design by Rachel Sahmie
This fantastic bowl by Rachel Sahmie was fired in June of 2020, and features a classic Sikyatki Revival design. It has great tonality from traditional firing, and the design compliments the bowl's slightly oblong form. The red rim opens up to a kiva step design on both sides of the bowl. The bowl measures 2 1/4" height and 5" diameter, and is clearly signed "Nampeyo Koo-Loo" on the bottom. Rachel Sahmie is a fifth generation master potter, and is the great-great-granddaughter of the matriarch of modern Hopi pottery, Nampeyo (1856-1942).
