Hopi Coiled Plaque With Butterfly Maiden, c. 1935
This coiled plaque is an excellent example of the basketry produced at 2nd Mesa in the 1930s. This piece features a three color design showing the Butterfly Maiden also known as Pahlik Mana wearing her tableta and manta. Includes a woven loop for wall hanging. Measures 11 1/2" in diameter. Excellent condition with normal fading to the front, a testament to its age. A wonderful piece of Hopi history.
