Old Polacca Gourd Canteen, c.1885 new
This traditional Hopi Polacca gourd canteen dates to around 1885. Featuring the classic Polacca slip, similar to Zuni pottery, this piece predates Nampeyo’s Sikyatki Revival of 1895. Traditionally made and fired, it has an eccentric gourd-shaped form, offering a unique variation on the traditional canteen. Unsigned. Measures 6" high by 5" in diameter. A rare and distinctive example of historic Hopi pottery.
