Grace Chapella Seed Jar with Butterfly, c.1920-30 new

This yellow ware seed jar was made by Grace Chapella c.1920-30. It features her trademark butterfly/moth design accented with an elaborate geometric. This jar measures 10" in diameter by 5 1/2" high and is in excellent condition. While unsigned, the designs are diagnostic for her style. Grace Chapella was one of Nampeyo's original students and she lived to be 107 years old. She made many excellent ceramics during her long life. Her grandson Mark Tahbo also became an accomplished potter.
