This miniature polychrome canteen by Hopi master potter Nampeyo (1856-1942) date to 1910-1915. Here, Nampeyo has miniaturized the traditional Hopi canteen form for the tourist art market.
The canteen is decorated with an abstract bird that also appears on many of Nampeyo’s pieces. The piece measures 3 3/4″ height, 3″ width, and 2 1/2″ depth.
