Description

This Hopi seed jar, made by Nampeyo dates to the early 20th century and reflects the refined language of the Sikyatki Revival movement. The low, broad form with a gently flared mouth is characteristic of Nampeyo’s jars during this period. The surface is decorated with bold black-on-yellow geometric abstractions, stepped forms, spirals, and angular motifs. This jar is a strong, classic example of early Hopi revival pottery and the enduring influence of one of Pueblo art’s most important artists. The piece comes with a detailed letter of attribution.

This excellent piece measures 4 ½” in height by 8 ½” in diameter.
