Hopi Eagle Tail Seed Jar by Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo
This large seed jar is a ceramic masterpiece by Hopi artist Priscilla Namingha(1924-2008). It features an elegant four panel eagle tail design, one of several designs developed from ancient Hopi designs by Priscilla's great grandmother Nampeyo (1856 - 1942). The eagle tail with the feather drop is a classc family hallmark. This design also appears on the work of Priscilla's daughter, master potter Rachel Sahmie (b.1956). This jar is in excellent condition with one small flake off the rim and is clearly signed by the artist. It measures 8 1/4" high by 14" in diameter. An excellent addition to any collection of modern Hopi pottery.
